Futurist Ray Kurzweil predicts that by the middle of this century, humans will achieve a “millionfold increase in intelligence” aided by brain interfaces formed with “nanobots non-invasively inserted into our capillaries.” This may sound far-fetched, but as the article points out, there is active research in these areas, and Kurzweil previously predicted an AI breakthrough at the end of the 2020s.
