Introducing the Collaborative Intelligence (CI) Strategic and Operational Questions Series

I’ve had several recent discussions with executives regarding where and how to use CI to improve their company’s performance.

I frame these discussions by asking a set of strategic and operational questions aimed at helping me understand their strategic priorities and helping them understand better:

• how to think about the application of CI,

• where best to apply it, and

• what additional questions they will face during each CI implementation.

In the coming series of articles, I will delve into each of these questions in more detail, with the goal of:

• conveying why each of the questions is important and

• highlighting what to consider when formulating answers.

As a coming attraction, here are the questions, without any additional commentary:

1. What strategic goals are you pursuing such that you think CI might help you achieve them?

2. There are five areas of focus when designing CI-enabled work. What will be your organization’s primary focus?

3. Many types of work CAN be assigned to Intelligent Machines (IMs). What type of work do you hope to assign to them?

4. SHOULD this work be assigned to IMs?

5. For each unit of work, what is your CI strategy?

6. What is your technology strategy for each unit of work assigned to IMs?

7. What is your human resources strategy for each unit of work assigned to humans?
